Case Details

Jessner’s peel before and after:  A Jessner’s peel is a type of chemical peel that typically contains the ingredients salicyclic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol.  It is often modified by adding an additional layer of a retinoid to increase peeling.  It is a medium depth peel. This type of chemical peel is effective for treating acne, mild acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, melasma, sun damage, wrinkles or just uncovering a more glowing complexion.  Jessner’s peels are appropriate for patients of all skin types.  They generally have more peeling, especially when modified, starting of day three.  After getting this peel one should stay out of the sun for a week, moisturize at least four times a day.  Avoid waxing, anything abrasive or irritating on the skin.  It may also be a good idea to avoid shaving if the face is sensitive of one is peeling a lot.

Below is a patient 1 month after a modified Jessner’s peel. Also check out our doctor performing a Vitalize Peel, a branded Jessner’s peel on black skin.
