Depigmentation Treatment Before and After | Forehead Repigmentation Case

Depigmentation can be frustrating and emotionally distressing, especially for patients with darker skin tones. Unlike lightening or bleaching hyperpigmentation, restoring lost pigment—called repigmentation—is often trickier. This case highlights the results of depigmentation treatment on the forehead of a man with dark skin who developed a white spot after an injury.

For many patients, injury, inflammation, or scarring can disrupt melanocytes, the cells that produce skin pigment, leaving behind white patches. Treating these areas is more complex than fading dark spots. There are few agents known to reactivate pigment production rather than suppress it.

In this case, the patient was treated with a combination of the generic form of Latisse (bimatoprost) and a salicylic acid peel. Bimatoprost is best known as an eyelash growth medication, but research has shown that it may sometimes stimulate pigment cells when applied to skin. Dermatologists sometimes combine it with other treatments such as microneedling or chemical peels to improve penetration and results. The salicylic acid peel helped resurface the skin and create a more even tone, while enhancing absorption of the topical medication.

The before and after images show visible improvement, with repigmentation filling in the once depigmented patch on his forehead. While results can vary and this approach may not work for every case, it demonstrates how innovative treatments can restore confidence for patients living with depigmentation.

At Aglow Dermatology, we understand that repigmentation requires expertise, creativity, and persistence. Whether due to injury, vitiligo, or other causes, each case is unique—and tailored treatment plans can sometimes achieve dramatic improvement. Schedule an appointment here!
