VI Peel

All the rage in Hollywood, the VI Peel is a custom blend of peeling agents that result in a glowing complexion within a week. The VI Peel is particularly effective in clearing hyperpigmentation quickly but is also very effective for acne, wrinkles and sun damage. Samples of VI Derm professional skin care products come with peel and are also available for purchase at the office.

Q. How would the Vi Peel compare to other popular peels such as TCA peels?

A. The Vi Peel is almost painless and requires none of the skin pre conditioning required by other peels when used on people with darker skin types.

Q. What types of problems can a Vi Peel correct?

A. VI Peel is an excellent choice for acne, blemishes (hyperpigmentation), melasma, fine lines, sun damage, razor bumps or to achieve beautiful, glowing skin.

Q. How many treatments are required to get results with the Vi Peel?

A. The number of VI Peels required will depend on the problem being treated, other treatments being used, and the state of the skin.  In our experience, a single Vi Peel sometimes can show significant improvement in the general appearance of the skin, hyperpigmentation and acne.

Q. Will results be long lasting?

A. Like everything else in life, skin needs maintenance. The VI Peel’s results will vary depending on the condition being treated with the VI Peel, as well as the state of the skin.

Q. What types of skin respond well to the Vi Peel?

A. The many innovations that created the VI Peel combine to allow ALL skin types to enjoy the benefits of the peel.  African-American and darker skin types such as Asian and Latin patients can experience anti-aging and restorative repair with the VI Peel.

Q. How much will I peel after a Vi Peel?

A. The skin peeling associated with the VI Peel can be light or significant depending on the condition of your skin.  We recommend planning for most of the peeling 1-3 days after application with resolution of all or most all of the peeling in a week. Patients who get the VI Peel on a Thursday are generally not peeling on Friday and can generally expect to return to work on Monday with little peeling.

Q. What will I look like right after the Vi Peel and during the next few days?

A. The skin will look slightly tan, yellow or red immediately after the peel. On days one and two the skin will feel slightly tighter, with no visible signs of having had a peel. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker. On approximately day three, you will begin to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth area and continue for a day or two. With the use of the VI Derm™ moisturizer, you may go about your usual daily routine. By day six or day seven you will be done peeling and the results may be dramatic.

Q. What kind of final results will I see after a single Vi Peel?

A. It takes about four days after you finish peeling for the skin to return to its normal PH and to see the final effects. The skin will look luminous and glowing. Hyperpigmentation will be improved or eliminated, depending on the amount of damage. Tone and texture will be improved for a more youthful, radiant appearance.

Q. What other areas can the Vi Peel be performed on?

A. The neck, arms, hands and chest all respond well to a VI Peel.

Q. What should I avoid before my Vi Peel?

A. Avoid using topical retinoids such a as Retin –A, Tazorac, Differin, Ziana, Atralin, tretinoin, oral retinoids, isotretinoin (Accutane) and salicylic or glycolic acid products for at least 3 days before your Vi Peel.

Q. What should I avoid after my Vi Peel?

A. There should be no rubbing, scrubbing, picking, waxing, facials, microdermabrasions, lasers or other skin procedures to the treated skin for a week after a Vi Peel.  Also, avoid all topical acne medications for a week or until the skin stops peeling.  Patients on isotretinoin (Accutane and its generics) should not get a Vi Peel.
